I love chicken but i'm not a big fan of chicken wings that people get in one of those popular chicken wings places. I find them to be bland for my taste and people put a lot of sauce to cover-up the blandness of them. I was in a mission to find a recipe that will change my mind about wings. awhile back I came across those two recipes on Pinterest: Smokestack's Chicken Wings andDragon Chicken Wings. Those two recipes have become my favorite and go to chicken wings recipes. If you are looking for other recipes to try check out my Pinterest board. This recipes are so easy to make it doesn't take that long and there are sure to make your taste buds dance. The only negative thing is the marinating time is between 4 hours to overnight. (great for people who plan ahead). I bought about 3 lbs of Chicken wings at my local whole Food the price was great, then I divided the chicken in half to create two recipes. below is my results for both recipes.
First Recipe : Smokestack's Chicken Wings
Note: I didn't have an outside grill, so I used the oven, also cute the recipe in half, I didn't have sage so I skipped it, and this recipe calls for a lot of butter to make the finishing sauce but I just used olive oil instead. Without the grill I still got the smoke taste in my wings just imaging if I had a grill.
I combined all the ingredients for the marinate together and covered the chicken wings with it. Placed the wings in the fridge to cool and marinate for about 5 hours.
Finishing sauces: 6 tablespoons of olive oil, 1 lemon, and old bay seasonings. You can use Half of the butter the recipe calls for and half oil if you like butter.
Cooked the wings for 25 minutes on a preheat oven 375
Cover the cooked wings with the finishing sauces and cook them for an addition 25 to 30 minutes.
Second Recipe: Dragon Chicken Wings
Note: This recipe called for red food color and I didn't want to use food color in my food so I skip this step. This recipe is so easy.
Blend all the ingredients for the marinate together and covered the chicken wings with it. Placed it in the fridge to cool and marinate for 5 hour as well.
Cooked the wings for 25 minutes on a preheat oven 375 than I turned them over to cook for another 25 to 30 minutes. and that was it.
I made some homemade fries to go with my wings and it was a win in my house. Tell me about your favorite chicken wings recipe, I would love to try.
Happy wings!
